MTV News: This Small Moving Company Is Taking Huge Strides Against Domestic Abuse

Don’t let the name fool you – they’re all heart.

Prepare to believe in humanity again: central California-based moving company Meathead Movers has teamed up with non-profit Good Shepherd Shelter to shepherd (literally) victims of domestic violence from their abusive situations…for free.

“Meathead Movers will work directly with the nonprofit to identify the abusive situations and provide moving services at no cost,” a spokesperson told LA Weekly. “Not only do these services help the victims of domestic abuse but they directly impact Meathead employees — consisting of predominantly young men who believe that real men don’t hit women, real men help those in need.”

As President Obama reminded us at this year’s Grammys, more than one in four women has experienced domestic violence. Often, the biggest hurdle for victims is finding the means to escape their situation – which is what makes Meathead Movers’ pledge all the more essential. They’ll be changing – no, saving – lives, and we truly hope other companies follow suit.

And did we mention Meathead Movers is comprised mainly of high school athletes? The kids…they are all right.
