The Green Hotel is the city’s first commercial building and resembles the bungalow-style that emerged around that time. Shafter’s Depot Museum preserves the history of the railways that took passengers throughout the country. Both structures are part of the National Register of Historic Places and make for great sight-seeing on the weekends. In more recent history, swimmer and city native Larsen Jensen became a two-time Olympic medalist in the 2000’s.
