Holiday spirits were lifted in far-flung corners of the globe, thanks to Cambria Youth who converged at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in November to pack over 300 individual gift boxes and 20 large containers, donated by Meathead Movers, with children’s toys. The packages were bound to local troops stationed in Afghanistan and other combat areas. These, along with the 34 Starbucks gift cards that were sent to our local service members stationed stateside, were a direct result of the generosity and donations from the citizens of Cambria and our business community. A distinguished guest was 2002 Leffingwell High School graduate Marine Cpl. Salvador Barriga, who had just returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan, accompanied by his daughter Vanessa.
