Ventura County Star: Meatheads Make Merry Holidays for Residents at Assisted Living Residences

Ventura County Star – CAMARILLO, Calif.—Spreading holiday cheer, Meathead Movers’ employees are volunteering their time to sing Christmas carols for residents of Ventura County assisted living residences. Teams of Meatheads will visit the assisted living residence nearest their last customer of the day. Dressed in their Meathead Movers uniforms and Santa hats, the teams will sing to the residents to brighten their afternoon and make them feel special.

“We’re now in our third consecutive year of singing carols and bringing Christmas cheer to people in assisted living residences,” said Aaron Steed, president/CEO Meathead Movers. “It has been a great experience cheering up those who might be having a hard time during the holidays with a merry song or two, which is why we’re continuing the tradition. Our employees have really embraced our vision of reaching out to the community and helping people.”

Steed contacts various assisted living residences in the area where his movers have finished their jobs and asks for permission to stop by and sing Christmas Carols. “We ask if anyone has recently lost a loved one, or might be alone during the holidays and sing to these people.”

The plan is to continue caroling at various senior homes throughout Ventura County during the holidays.

Community involvement has always been very important to Steed no matter what time of year. Over the years, Meathead Movers has worked closely with United Way of Ventura County’s United Women’s Leadership Council to help foster youth by hosting “Girls’ Night Out” fundraisers. They have also collected and distributed more than 200,000 pounds of needed supplies for disasters, including the earthquake in Haiti, Hurricane Katrina and the San Diego fires.
