Company and their athlete movers will support in race day logistics

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — The athlete movers of Meathead Movers, who jog when they’re not handling your household or office items, will help support race day logistics for the Inaugural San Luis Obispo Marathon, Half Marathon + 5K races. Meathead Mover trucks and athletes will haul thousands of pounds of products to locations on the 26.2 mile course and the SLO Life Expo.

“Meathead Movers and their athletes will be invaluable to our logistic efforts,” says Heather Hellman, Event Director. “These guys are fit, reliable and know how to get things moved quickly. We’re very happy to have them on our team.”

Founded by brothers Aaron and Evan Steed while they were athletes in high school, Meathead Movers has grown to three locations, opened new headquarters that includes Meathead Mini Storage and Meathead Packers and recently won accolades from the White House for young entrepreneurship. Evan, co-founder and Vice President, will be running the Half Marathon, his fourth.

“I’m very excited to both sponsor and participate in the first annual San Luis Obispo Marathon. Commitment to an active lifestyle is such a big part of what makes the community of San Luis Obispo great, and it’s also a founding principle of Meathead Movers. One of the reasons our service is so impressive is that our movers actually jog when not carrying anything! That saves our customer time and money and keeps our movers in tip top shape.”

ABOUT MEATHEAD MOVERS

Brothers Aaron and Evan Steed started Meathead Movers in 1997, when Aaron was a high school junior and Evan a freshman. Due to their school and athletic commitments, the two were having difficulties finding part-time work that fit around their busy schedules. After the brothers helped a friend’s parents move they found themselves in demand as a local moving resource thanks to positive word of mouth about their work ethic and honesty. Today Meathead Movers handles well over 3,500 moves per year and employs 190 athletes working their way through college, making it the largest moving company in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

In 2010, Meathead Movers consolidated their operations and administrative offices in a 17,000 square foot facility in San Luis Obispo that also houses over 100,000 square feet of mini-storage. Meathead Movers further expanded in 2007 with by a 5,700 square foot branch office in Camarillo, enabling the company to service local moving jobs from Orange County, through Los Angeles County and all of Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, covering the entire central coast.
