SAN LUIS OBISPO – Meathead Movers is being recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America in 2012, placing the full-service moving and storage company on its coveted Inc. 500|5000 list.

Meathead Movers is California’s largest independent moving company. Founded in 1997 by brothers Aaron and Evan Steed as a way to earn money around athletic and academic commitments, the company has grown to feature a state-of-the-art storage facility and Meathead Packers.

Meathead Movers founding principle is to support athletes working their way through college in pursuit of their own American dream. Some longtime employees of the company have become managers and gotten married, purchased homes, and achieved other milestones.

The majority of the company’s employees are under the age of 25.

“We are honored to be recognized by Inc. Magazine,” said Aaron Steed, CEO of Meathead Movers. “As a long-time reader of Inc. Magazine, this recognition has a personal significance for me. Our growth is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our employees and we proudly thank everyone for their efforts to place Meathead Movers in the prestigious company of much larger, established corporations.”

The 2012 Inc. 500|5000 list was unveiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine, and takes a comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. The list is ranked according to percentage revenue growth between 2007 to 2010. Additionally, companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—to be considered for the list. Past members of the Inc. 500 list include Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit and American Apparel.
