THOUSAND OAKS, CA — (Marketwire) — 11/12/09 — More than 15 employees of Meathead Movers replaced their uniforms with tuxedoes and moving boxes with martinis and converged on Fiamme Restaurant and Bar in Thousand Oaks this week to host and serve nearly 120 patrons during Meathead Movers’ Girls Night Out. One of Fiamme’s “Fire Up The Community!” events, the evening raised more than $7,000 for the United Women’s Leadership Council of United Way of Ventura County (UWLC).

“I believe last night was the best Girls’ Night Out of the seven we’ve put on in the past three years,” said Aaron B. Steed, President, CEO of Meathead Movers. “I received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and I don’t recall a single lady (or Meathead) not grinning for the entire evening.”

Formed in 2007, the UWLC inspires, celebrates, educates, and engages individuals in philanthropy and community service to help empower female foster youth in Ventura County to be self-sufficient and stable enough to function independently once they leave the foster care system.

“We are proud to work with the United Way and Meathead Movers to help raise money for such a meaningful local cause,” said Liz Beddow, proprietor of Fiamme. “When women join together, our voices, vision and leadership have phenomenal impact.”

The “Fire Up The Community” program was started by Fiamme proprietors Liz Beddow and Jerry White to support non-profit organizations throughout the area with their fundraising efforts. To date, the popular restaurant and music venue has helped raise urgently needed funds for Agoura High School, the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura, the Dignity® Memorial Vietnam Wall, the Lilly of the Valley AIDS Organization Mission (Love Fest), the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, and the United Way WLC among others.
