Daily Press: McWatters Wins Meathead Movers Invitational Again

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Victor Valley College 174-pound sophomore Ryan McWatters earned the Meathead Movers Invitational award of excellence Saturday after going 4-0 and winning his weight division for the second year in a row.

McWatters won two matches by technical fall and two by major decision to improve his season record to 16-0. Only once has an opponent scored an offensive point against the Sultana graduate.

“Nobody’s gotten close to him,” VVC coach Scott Seeley said.

Seeley added that a number of the top-ranked wrestlers in the state competed in the tournament.

McWatters, ranked first at 174 pounds in the state, finished third at last year’s CCCAA Wrestling Championships. He reached the CIF State Championships twice while prepping at Sultana.
