Everything You Need to Know
Are your movers fully equipped?
Yes! We show up with everything you need, from the moving truck (equipped with air-ride suspension) to all the pads, dollies, and ties — all at no extra cost to you.
Do you consolidate trucks with other customers’ belongings?
No, we focus on one customer at a time. We won’t consolidate your load with anyone else’s, which allows us to guarantee pickup and delivery dates and times.
Will my movers be the same from start to finish?
Yes. We only hire professional, trained, and insured Athlete Movers to load and transport your furniture, and you’ll receive the same movers at both ends.
What about your athlete movers?
Our professionally trained athlete movers are drug-screened, background checked, and come to us through the numerous colleges around the area.
When our reliable athlete movers are not working hard on a move, they are at the warehouse either working out at our on-site gym or studying for school at our computer labs. We invest in our movers to be the best at what they do, both on and off the job.
You can count on our guys to be trustworthy and meticulous with your precious household belongings. We’re proud to offer a professional packing service to our customers, which our movers help you safely & securely pack up your belongings and household items into boxes for transport to your next destination. Do your movers really jog when they are not carrying anything?
Yes — the rumors are true! Our athlete movers are required to jog when they are not carrying your items, saving you time and money.
Can movers disassemble furniture?
Absolutely. Our movers show up with the tools, training and experience to carefully disassemble bed frames, tables, desks, sectionals, and more. When we arrive at your new home, we’ll reassemble everything so you can focus on settling in, not searching for the Allen wrench. Disclaimer: While we’re happy to disassemble and reassemble most furniture, items made from particle board or ready-to-assemble furniture (like IKEA-style pieces) can weaken over time and may not withstand multiple moves. We’ll always handle these items with care, but we can’t guarantee against damage caused by the original construction or previous wear.
How many movers do I need?
Every move is different. We’ll ask a few questions about your home, furniture, and any specialty items, then recommend the right-sized crew. Our goal is to send enough movers to complete your move safely and efficiently while saving you time and without wasting your money.
How much should you tip movers?
Tipping is never expected, but it’s always appreciated when your crew delivers exceptional service. If you’d like to tip, most customers choose between 10 – 20% of the total move or a flat amount per mover. The biggest compliment you can give our team? Leave them a glowing Google review. Cold water, sports drinks, or lunch on a busy moving day are always appreciated, too.
How much do movers cost?
At Meathead Movers, each quote is customized to our clients’ needs. The cost will depend on a variety of factors like inventory, distance, and scope of work. We believe moving is stressful enough without surprise charges. That’s why we take the time to understand your move and provide a clear, upfront estimate, so you know exactly what you’ll pay before move day.
How far in advance should I book movers?
The earlier, the better. We recommend booking two to four weeks in advance, especially during the busy summer season and around the beginning or end of the month. Need movers sooner? Give us a call. We’ll always do our best to make room for you.
What happens if it rains?
Rain doesn’t stop us. Every move comes with our Greatness Guarantee, which includes our Home Protection Plan: floor runners, door jamb protectors, furniture pads, stretch wrap, mattress bags, and other safeguards to protect your home and belongings throughout the move. Our crews come prepared with the right protections and equipment no matter the weather. We simply take a little extra care to keep your move on track.
Why are movers so expensive?
When you hire Meathead Movers, you’re not just paying for people to lift boxes. You’re investing in a team of professionally trained, background-checked, drug-tested athletes who know how to move your home with care. Every move includes fully equipped trucks, professional-grade moving equipment, insurance, and years of experience protecting what matters most.
The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value. The price is what you pay, the value is what you get and there’s a significant cost to being moved by cheap movers. If your belongings or your home are damaged, that “deal” can end up costing far more. At Meathead Movers, we’re incentivized to do the job right the first time, our movers get paid more when your items arrive undamaged, so you can move with confidence and peace of mind.
Can movers move plants?
For local moves, you bet. Most healthy houseplants can travel right along with the rest of your belongings.
For long-distance moves, some states have agricultural restrictions that limit which plants can cross state lines. Let us know what you’re moving, and we’ll help you figure out the best option for your leafy family members.
Can you leave clothes in drawers when moving?
In most cases, yes. We do recommend leaving out electronics or jewelry. Besides that, we’ll still wrap your dresser with shrink wrap and moving blankets, then move it just as it is. Each of our athlete movers can safely lift up to 150 pounds, so most full dressers are no problem.
The only exception? If your dresser doubles as storage for your rock or brick collection, we recommend emptying it first.
What items will movers not move?
For safety and legal reasons, we can’t transport hazardous or flammable items like gasoline, propane, fireworks, paint, ammunition, or certain chemicals.
We also recommend keeping important documents, medications, and other sentimental or irreplaceable valuables with you during your move. Not sure about a particular item? Just ask. We’re happy to help.
How long does a long-distance move take?
Every long-distance move is different. Timing depends on the distance, route, and delivery schedule. At Meathead Movers, it’s good to know that we focus on one customer at a time. You’ll get a set delivery day and real-time tracking, so you always know where your belongings are. No vague delivery windows. No waiting around for days or even weeks wondering when your items will arrive. Just clear communication, peace of mind, and a team you can count on.
What is the cheapest day to move?
If your schedule is flexible, weekday moves, like Monday through Wednesday, are often the most budget-friendly option. Avoiding weekends and the beginning or end of the month can help lower costs and give you more scheduling options. A little flexibility with your move date can go a long way toward saving money while making the process easier.
What is the best time of year to move?
Fall and Winter typically offer the greatest availability and can be more cost-effective because demand is lower. Summer is our busiest season, so moving dates can fill up quickly. No matter when you plan to move, booking early gives you the best selection of dates and the reassurance that your move is scheduled when you need it.
What packing supplies do I need for moving?
A successful move starts with having the right supplies. You’ll want sturdy moving boxes, packing paper or bubble wrap, packing tape, mattress bags, furniture blankets, markers, and labels to keep everything organized and protected.
Prefer to skip the packing process? Our team offers professional packing services and high-quality supplies to take care of the details, so your belongings are packed properly and ready for the move. Just need boxes? We’re happy to deliver the quantity you need ahead of time!
What is full-service moving?
Full-service moving means we take care of everything, start to finish. Our team can pack up your entire home, load and transport your belongings, then unload and unpack at your new place so you don’t have to lift a finger. Beyond the move itself, we can help declutter and organize your space beforehand, stage your home to help it show its best, and provide storage solutions if you need somewhere to keep your belongings between moves. Point, and we’ll handle the rest.
What is a binding moving estimate?
A binding estimate, also known as a “Fixed Rate,” means the price you receive upfront is the price you pay, based on the inventory you provide. No surprise charges, no guessing games. Just straightforward pricing from the start.
Does your company offer financing?
Yes! Through our partnership with Affirm, qualifying customers can choose a payment option with rates from 0-36% APR.
