Grants and Sponsorships

Giving back is such an integral part of who we are that everyone at Meathead, from the newest hire to our CEO volunteers and gives of him or herself. This takes many forms: sponsorships to local athletes, grants to support the performing arts and not-for-profit health care, putting on really fun fundraising events multiple times per year that benefit local kids in need, and moving women who are victims of domestic violence for free. As two high school students starting our business using pagers and pay phones, we never could have made it without the support of our community. Meathead Movers would not be what it is today if we hadn't been cheered on, advised, and hired by the incredible people of San Luis Obispo County. The same has happened as our growth has introduced us to the wonderful people and businesses of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties. Because those communities show us so much love, we are dedicated to doing our best to give back! Please take a moment to read about the various grants and sponsorships we fund in support of the communities we serve, including our newest effort, The Cinderella Fund. If you are looking for help or a donation for your own philanthropic endeavors, please email us at PublicOutreach@MeatheadMovers.com.

Girls’ Night Out

Every year, Meathead Movers hosts 2-3 fundraisers for local charities that benefit abused and underprivileged youth. Our Meatheads suit up in tuxedoes and spoil the attendees. We lavish the ladies with champagne, roses, appetizers, custom cocktails, and lots of attention. The most fun part of the evening is the tip competition! Each Meathead competes to earn the most money for his tip jar, and all the money goes to the charity we are supporting that evening. On average, we raise over $10,000 per event. Our beneficiaries are CASA of San Luis Obispo County and United Way of Ventura County. See below for more details about these deserving charities, and check out this video of our most recent event!

Local Women Shelters

Local Women Shelters

Since 2001, Meathead Movers has been moving women in domestic violence situations for free. In the early years of Meathead Movers, Aaron and Evan would get phone calls from scared, desperate women looking to flee an abuser, but physically incapable of moving themselves. And more often than not, abused women have been isolated from a circle of support, so they had no one else to call. At first, Meatheads would rush out to help, but after one particularly volatile situation, it became clear that we needed to partner with the local women’s shelter, which we have done for the last decade. Of all the work we do at Meathead, this is the most important. It helps those who need our services most at no cost to them, and it also reinforces to our employees that a large part of working at Meathead is finding ways to help and give back. We are committed to offering this service at every Meathead location, always. Thank you to the Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo, Domestic Violence Solutions of Santa Barbara County, and Many Mansions in Ventura County for helping facilitate this crucial service. In 2011, we launched The Cinderella Fund. This extends our commitment to the work of womens’ shelters by offering grants to children housed in the shelters as a means to accomplish their artistic, athletic, and educational dreams.

United Way Women’s Leadership Council

United Way Women’s Leadership Council

The UWWLC is our beneficiary for our Ventura County Girls’ Night Out events. They really are changing the lives of young women trapped in the foster care system. Their focus is to advocate for these young women, mentor them, and provide them with a path to success in life. The work of the UWWLC is breaking the cycle of early pregnancy, dependency on public aid, and being victim to abusive relationships. We are huge supporters of their work, and are so proud to be able to work together to raise money to aid the UWWLC in their work.

CASA

CASA

We love CASA! The work they do is so important and we have so much fun together at our annual Girls’ Night Out events! A little bit about CASA: Concerned over making decisions about abused and neglected children's lives without sufficient information, a Seattle judge conceived the idea of using trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of these children in court. So successful was this Seattle program that soon judges across the country began utilizing citizen advocates. In 1990, the U.S. Congress encouraged the expansion of CASA with passage of the Victims of Child Abuse Act. Today more than 900 CASA programs are in operation, with 62,000 women and men serving as CASA volunteers. CASA is an acronym for Court Appointed Special Advocate. The amazing CASAs in our community really are angels to the children they help, and we are so honored to be able to help support this amazing program.

Originally founded in 1946 by Dr. Edison French, the hospital continues to deliver compassionate, quality healthcare. French Hospital offers caring, expert staff and state-of-the-art equipment. It’s not often the community has a say in the quality of their health care, and we are grateful that with French, we can.
