A Charming Life in Santa Paula

Santa Paula is located in Ventura County in southern California. With just under 30,000 residents, Santa Paula is noted for its small town charm. The streets are low traffic, and the atmosphere is quaint. All this makes Santa Paula an ideal place to start a quiet life. For those who may be considering a move to this simple California city, a little more information on the area can only be helpful. Then, with this information, potential residents can look for the best Santa Paula movers to get the job done.

Today, Santa Paula is best known as the "Citrus Capital of the World." This moniker has been well earned thanks to the city's focus on agricultural pursuits. Santa Paula grows a large number of oranges, lemons and avocados. Historically, Santa Paula played a large part in California's petroleum industry, and the California Oil Museum is operated in Santa Paula. The city's small town charm has made it popular with Hollywood, which has completed various projects in Santa Paula. This is due to Santa Paula's charming main street, which has a classically American ambiance. This main street has a wide range of specialty shops, making it popular with locals.

No Transport residential move in Santa Paula

Feedback re: Work Order # 859775 This has happened TWICE now in my two interactions with Meathead Movers - in late October 2016, and then again yesterday, January 29, 2017: I called to request a MOVING VAN + LABOR and was told there were NO TRUCKS AVAILABLE at all out of the Camarillo office (both times), but that a two-man labor team was available to help me with the move; I was told both times I'd have to rent a big box truck myself. On both occasions, I had to rent a 17' U-Haul box truck at my own expense and on the day of each move, YOUR LABOR TEAMS SHOWED UP IN A BIG BOX TRUCK! Why was I told both times that NO trucks were available when in fact they were? Twice I have had to go to the extra expense of having to rent a U-Haul truck at $29.95 per day + $.89 per mile (x39 miles=$34.71) + $14.00 insurance + tax + $13.50 gas refill. Yesterday's total for the U-Haul truck rental was $84.42 that I had to pay out of pocket, plus in excess of $500 for labor. Why are your customers having to pay out of pocket for a U-Haul box truck rental when your labor team shows up in a BIG EMPTY BOX TRUCK that cannot be used to transport anything? As a consumer, that makes no sense to me! On a rainy Sunday in late October when I first had to pack up all my furniture and possessions in Santa Paula to get them moved into a storage facility in Ventura, your two movers were very fast and super efficient - they got ALL of my household goods shrink-wrapped, padded, packed, and loaded into the 17' U-Haul I'd rented, then they trailed me (in their empty box truck) and got everything moved into storage in Ventura within a 3-hour time frame. Yesterday, the task at hand SHOULD have been much simpler than the original move last October- all the MM team had to do was load up the same household goods from the Ventura storage facility into the U-Haul box truck I'd rented, trail me to the new house in Santa Paula, and unload them into the appropriate rooms. Yesterday's young team was unable to pack everything that needed to be moved - what got left behind in the Ventura storage facility was my washer & dryer in one of the storage units, plus roughly 1/3 of a 5x10 space full of boxed goods - I was told the washer & dryer + the boxed goods could not be loaded into the empty Meathead box truck because "it would change the terms of the contract and the contract would need to be re-calculated." I will now have to attempt to move all those remaining boxes myself via many 37 mile round trips in my compact hatchback over the next few days which will be difficult because I'm 66, recovering from not only knee surgery (torn meniscus) a few months ago, but a more recent surgery on my left hand/wrist - I'm wearing a hard splint from fingers to mid-forearm and I'm not supposed to lift/push/pull/carry any weight over 15 pounds. I will have to pay someone else to move the washer & dryer out of storage by February 1st or risk having to pay another month's storage rent. Yesterday's team exceeded the 3-hour time frame and I was forced to pay overtime, plus the cost of the U-Haul rental. Note: WHILE ALL THIS WAS GOING ON, THE MEATHEAD MOVERS BIG BOX TRUCK SAT EMPTY AND UNUSED. Two of my items were broken yesterday that I know of so far: one was a large pleated lampshade (value $24.95) that one of the guys (perhaps because of being new on the job and inexperienced?) naively stacked other lampshades on top of, then pushed two smaller lampshades on top of those - the forced pressure exerted caused the interior of the largest lampshade to crackle into many fragments; the other broken item was a speed regulator cover on my stationary Italian exercise bike that got snapped off while it was being physically lifted from the front walkway up two short steps to the front porch. Although yesterday's team of 3 were all polite, well-mannered, and respectful young men, they were not able to accomplish in 3 hours of time what the more experienced 2-man team accomplished in October in the same time frame. I admit I had an expectation that this move would go just as well as the first move had, and I'd asked when I placed the order if the same team was available. I am disappointed in how this transaction went because as a result, I have to go to even MORE expense now to hire someone to get my washer & dryer moved out of storage in a hurry, plus all the remaining boxes that did not get loaded into the U-Haul truck. There would have been ample space to load the washer & dryer and remaining boxes into the empty, unused Meathead Movers box truck. I don't understand why such an obviously simple accommodation couldn't have been utilized as a resolution to the problem. I hope you will be able to read this objectively from my viewpoint as a Consumer- how would YOU feel?

No Transport residential move in Santa Paula

I had Meathead Movers help on both ends of this move. The team in SLO and the one out of Ventura were like night and day. I'll hit the most important points: The guys in SLO literally ran between loading items. They communicated with me and with each other in clear terms, politely, and then moved on with the job. Your Camarillo guys seemed to have never worked together before. The one who seemed to be in charge was not much of a leader and the 3 of them bickered with each other and generally gave each other a bad time about who was going to do what. While they actually finished within the time that was bid, there were moments when better communication would have moved things along better. I actually, would have been willing to pay them for additional time to really get the furniture placed where I wanted it but I was a bit exasperated with them at that point and they seemed determined to be able to say they had finished in the time allotted. The house and some of the items were a little the worse for wear. They had a particularly hard time getting the refrigerator in the house. The use of a dolly would have meant less scraping of the bottom of the appliance and removing the doors would have meant no scrapped paint on the doors of the house. A dining room buffet ended up with a small chunk of wood out of the back of one leg that I didn't notice until after they were gone. The guy handling the paperwork was quite rushed in trying to finish it up. There was no time to go back through the house and check furniture for scrapes or nicks and walls or doorways for problems. I've never used movers before so did not know what to expect. I know that the problems were really fairly minor and that no huge damage was done to anything. We have done several moves ourselves and I know that we wouldn't have done any better. However, the Camarillo team did not compare favorably to the SLO taem and their lack of cooperation with each other didn't leave a very favorable impression.

Great attitude from everyone. Helpful with things outside the scope of moving and packing... such as referrals for shredding of documents.

Local residential move in Santa Paula

Thoroughly wrapped furniture for protection! Friendly and hard workers. Need to make sure customer can get a hold of movers after truck leaves, maybe a cell. Workers did not have my cell and home number was disconnected. Movers needed to make a stop and was gone for 2 hours. There was a lack of communication between customer and staff.
