The Leonis Adobe was built in 1844, when the San Fernando Valley was comprised of ranchland as far as the eye could see. The name “Calabasas” is derived from the Spanish word calabaza, which translates to English as “pumpkin” or “squash.” The city celebrates its namesake gourd every October with a fun-filled Pumpkin Festival.
