Aaron Steed's Biography
Use to market your event or include in any event materials.
Aaron Steed is Founder/CEO of Meathead Movers. The company is California’s largest independent moving company. In 1997, Aaron and Evan Steed helped a friend’s parent move and started doing more moving jobs as a way to earn money around their high school sports and academic schedules. The company didn’t even own trucks! Customers would rent a moving van or truck, pick the movers up themselves, drive them to their house and the movers would load their belongings. The client would then drive the moving truck to the new home, and the movers would unload. Aaron asked the clients to pay what they wanted, so often they were paid $20 and a pizza. The movers were clean-cut, polite, and hard-working. Word of mouth spread, and within a few years they were completely supporting themselves—able to purchase their own cars, clothes, food and rent, as well as employ about 25 of their friends. Aaron was offered a wrestling scholarship from San Francisco State University, but turned it down to develop Meathead Movers. His brother Evan was graduating from high school, and it was their shared vision to change the moving industry. In 2010, the company expanded into the storage business, opening Meathead Mini-Storage, connected to their gleaming new 120,000 square foot headquarters in San Luis Obispo. Being able to provide state-of-the-art and conveniently located self-storage met even more customer needs. Opening a prominent headquarters in their hometown of San Luis Obispo was a proud milestone for the two brothers. The company has also opened branches in Ventura County and Los Angeles County, allowing them to better service a wider market. The company currently serves the entire state of California. In 2011 they launched Princess Packers, a full-service packing sister organization. The company employs clean-cut athletic young women to pack valuables before the “Meatheads” move them. 2011 was the company’s best year to date, and 2012 is already up 40% over 2011. The company credits its growth to a number of factors, including excellent customer service and rigorous staff training. Word of mouth has always been helpful, but the explosion of social media and consumer review web sites like Angie’s List, Yelp, and Google Reviews refers clients and spreads the word at lightning speed. Since the company is still small, they remain nimble enough to constantly update and tweak procedures. Giving back to the community is an important tenet of the company, and they regularly hold fundraisers for local charities. Meathead Movers has a history of moving domestic violence victims for free. Aaron lives in San Luis Obispo with his wife, Erin, and their cat, Max.

Staging: Aaron will use his laptop from the stage, so a podium or table is needed, along with a stable Internet Connection.
Microphone: Wireless lavaliere microphone
Screen & Computer Projection System: Aaron will use his own laptop because he often has music and video files that would not be easy to move to another computer. He uses a Windows 7 Tablet. An LCD projector system compatible with a PC is required, as well.
Media/PowerPoint/Materials: Aaron uses PowerPoint to create his media presentation and often works on it up until the last minute, because of the way he often customizes them for the audience. Please let us know if you have any deadlines for materials, so we can do our best to meet them.
Other: Sometimes Aaron gives out t-shirts to a few audience members. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to have these shirts available as “give-aways.”
